The bath and the eternal question
To bath or not to bath, that is the question? And it is a question that arises regularly. Do you keep the bath in the room, or remove it to open up the space? At the end of the day it is all going to boil down to circumstances and personal preference. There is no right or wrong answer.

If you are someone who enjoys relaxing in a bath, or who has/intends to have kids, then the question of removing the bath does not apply. However, if you are considering deleting it from the bathroom, it probably means it sees little to no use.
The first question we will ask if you are considering removing the bath is βare you intending to live in this house for the foreseeable future?β Often, the decision as to whether the bath is staying will be determined by this answer. If your intention is to renovate the bathroom to boost resale value as you intend to sell, leave the bath within the room so as not to limit buyers. If you are renovating the bathroom for yourselves to enjoy, with no intent to sell, removing the bath might be the better option.
Removing the bath from the room will open up a myriad of options for layout changes. You may now have the space to fit that double vanity, or have that larger walk-in shower you have always wanted? In smaller bathrooms, the possibilities for how the room can be laid out are more restrictive with a bath in place. If your home only has one bathroom with a separate toilet, as is often the case, eliminating the bath opens up the option of installing a second toilet in the main bathroom. Something that cant be underestimated in the functionality of the home.
Alternatively, if you have a large family bathroom, and can afford the space, installing a beautiful freestanding bath will add a powerful design element to the room. Add some feature lighting to highlight it and you will attain that designer look, regardless of whether it only gets used every now and then.
As you can see, there is no clear cut answer as to whether or not a bath should stay in a space or not. After taking all the considerations into account we will generally remind people that they are paying for the renovation in their home, so they should be happy with the result. As such the decision needs to be what best suits you, not anyone else.
